On August 22, 2012, Google sent out a tweet confirming that they had sent out a Panda Data Refresh. There has been a lot of buzz and concern in the online community about how the Panda updates are going to affect websites that are already ranking well in google searches. While being concerned is a natural reaction to these updates, there are a couple of things you can do to avoid having your content slapped by google.
Is the Google Panda Data Refresh Going to Affect Everybody?
The short answer to this is no. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be proactive and have a strategy in place just in case though. Currently each Panda data refresh has affected less than 1% of search queries and have been called minor refreshes by google.

What you can do in case google’s Panda Data Refresh targets your website
The number one thing you can do is something you should already be doing anyway with your articles and blogs. Keep providing your audience with new content. Ensure that the content is unique and informative and try to write content that will keep your audience engaged and wanting to read more of what you have to offer. Google is simply trying to get rid of junk in their search queries and they want to ensure that people are getting quality content delivered to them in their search results.
So, in conclusion, try to adhere to the advice I offered in the last paragraph and you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the Panda data refresh harming your rankings. This update is a good thing because if you are providing quality content, all of the other “junk” content that is competing with you is on their radar and that means a boost for you when they get knocked out!
